  1. Girl, every since I saw that you put this product on your list... I wanted to try it! It is so darn hard to find. When I saw the ingredient list and it said mineral oil I was like NOPE, but I trust your judgement so its worth a try! Thanks for doing the review.

  9. Sunshyne I air dried/twisted my hair about 3 days ago and I am at a loss for a good paraben free daily moisturizer. I know am completely sabotaging the regimen I am learning over at hairlista (please dont shake your head at me :o) but I really don't just want to go back to what I've been using if it won't help. I've been using the cheap African Gro from Walmart for about 3 dollars. Finally realized it had parabens in it last week and don't know how to substitute it and with what. Also, I only have one of those hand-held hairdryers and don't know where to even start to look for the better kind that has an actual cap. I've been a fry it, dry it, and lay it to the side kind of girl forever and this is a new page for me so help where you can. Please.
    My best, Lynn

  10. Wow...sorry for all the rambling. This is the most I've ever written to you. See what 3 sips of coffee does to a girl? Shame.

  12. I use Silken Child on my DD's hair. Will definitely have to pick up some products for myself tomorrow! Thanks!

  13. Do you like this better than the Silk Elements MegaSilk Moisturizing Treatment?

    ReplyDelete
  14. @ Lyn - A lot of the moisturizers on the market have at least one paraben. I'm going to do a little more research and see if I can find something for you. In the meantime you could make your own moisturizer i.e. glycerin & water. Then seal with an oil.

@ Diana - Girl you are an angel for recommending the SE Mega Cholesterol. I adore it. Thanks again!

@ Bella - Silken Child is good too. I think you'll like the Cholesterol as well.

@ Danielle - Honestly, I think I do :-) It is much more creamier for my coarse hair. It's especially good while stretching my relaxers. I still love SE Moisturizing Treatment though.

  15. @ Lynn - Or you can use 100% unrefined Shea Butter as a moisturizer.

  16. How about some Blue Magic Coconut Oil? It has petrolatum (I was hard pressed to find anything WITHOUT petro) and it was aaaalright...to eh. Nothing spectacular. I also read somewhere that I really shouldn't or don't have to grease my scalp. Ever heard that? I'm on the next thing smokin' once the husband gets home to find that Shea Butter. Sally's maybe?

  17. I'm glad to hear this is a good product I just joined this site last week and I bought this product 2 weeks ago so its good to know I picked a good product and didn't waste my money

  18. Thanks! I am going to try the Silk Elements cholesterol once I finish using up the products I have. I have coarse hair as well and I love the Silk Elements Moisturizing treatment but find that I have to use alot of it.

  19. So I used the Silk Elements megasilk conditioner on my hair and I don't think my hair got along with it. I sat under the dryer for 20 minutes bagged with it. It wasn't really soft at the end but I used a vinegar rinse after I took the conditioner out. What really helped was a moisturizer afterwards of coconut and olive oil. My hair shined like the sun after that! I found the vinegar rinse on here so thanks!

  20. @ Lynn - Blue Magic Coconut Oil will not moisturize your hair. Shea Butter is a better option in my opinion. You don' have to grease your scalp. The scalp produces it's own oils. We should focus more on our ends, not the scalp.

Did you try the Mega Cholesterol or the MegaSilk Moisturizing treatment? You mentioned MegaSilk so I'm kind of confused

@ Tamika - Yes, I love this product, hopefully you will too. Thanks for joining Hairlista.

@ Danielle - Yeah the Moisturizing Treatment Jar is kind of small. The Cholesterol is cheaper and you get way more product.

  21. Yes!! This product is THE TRUTH!! I actually drove to 3 different Sallys locations (which 2 of the 3 are now closed due to the poor economy) and finally found it. I was sooo upset thinking they discontinued it. I actually use the shampoo and leave in conditioner as well. Works like a charm!!

  22. Do you still sit under the dryer with this conditioner for 30 minutes even though the directions say 5-7 for deep conditioning?

@ Anonymous #1 - Yes,I go under the dryer for 20-30mins with this treatment.

@ Anonymous # 2 - Really? seems like you're way ahead of us! I love it.

I would like to buy Silk Elements and I live in Toronto. Do you know where in the city it is sold?

I've been rocking a wig to give my hair some rest and I currently use moroccan oil moisturizing deep conditioner but i wanted to give Silk Elements a try. Is SE better do you know?

  26. Mineral Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol,

two things that i hear is bad for your hair.

are these in tiny quantities then?

  27. lyn and someone else commented about not putting oil on your scalp, where have you heard this from, every hairdresser & salon i know put oil on the scalp.

We have dry hair, we need a little on our scalp, some more than others, i know immediately after applying oil to my scalp that it feels better, you can put as much oil on the hair as you need but you still need something for the scalp. i use doogro the purple one, BEST one i ever used.
