CEO/Founder of Hairlicious & Hairlista Inc.
Hairlicious Inc. was designed to track my hair growth progress and share with my readers what works for my hair, what doesn't and any valuable information that I may come across.
I was initially inspired by ladies on Black Hair Media Forum. Many of the ladies on the forum have achieved long healthy hair!!! What really got me going was the ladies on Long Hair Care Forum. I never knew Black Women could have such long beautiful hair, honestly (take a look for yourself). With that being said, I started my own healthy hair care journey back in October 2007. It's been a blast!!!
I started off with hair slightly above my shoulders with damaged thin ends. My 1st goal is to have healthy APL hair with thicker ends (Reached May 1st 2008). My 2nd goal is to reach FULL APL by August '08 (Reached August 12th 2008). I had a minor set back in November 2008 and I had to cut my hair a little above APL. My 3rd goal is to achieve BSL by summer 2009 (Reached August 30th 2009). My 4th goal is to reach FULL MBL by Spring 2010. I have 4b/c type hair & I'm currently BSL. I obsess over moisturizing conditioners, conditioners with botanical extracts, designer handbags, sunglasses, & chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream!
I'm on a serious quest for healthy long hair. I am also dedicated & determined to help educate and provide knowledge on healthy hair care practices to those who are in need. Be sure to join Hairlista Inc. Social Network to mingle with other ladies who are all about healthy hair care and getting results!

OMG! I wish I had found you sooner! Your first picture of your hair is about how mine looked about 3 months ago. Now I have cut it (again) and so it's short, but soooo not perfect. I will be definitely, going to the store and purchasing your weekly regimen products.
Thanks for this Blog!
@ Exotic mommie - Im glad you found me, b/c I love your designs. Just take this time to nurse your hair back to health and it will bounce back in no time! Keep in touch :-)
Hi Sunshyne,
I'm just curious to know since you air dry, does your hair dry straight or does it puff up? Also, are you bunning wet hair or dry hair?
Thanks,
@ Anonymous - My hair air dries straight and it doesn't puff up. When I bun, my hair is damp from deep conditioning. Sometimes I bun on dry hair after moisturizing & sealing.

@ Melissa - Aww I'm glad that you are inspired to start your own journey!
@ HS - Thanks hun!
@ Delicious - Thank you!!
@ Chanel - That's awesome girl! Keep it up =]
Awesome, awesome sight. I too discovered blackhairmedia years ago and was religiously sticking to my regimen. Over the years, particularly since I started med school, I've really been neglecting my hair and have stopped a regiment altogether. Man, have I paid the price. Thank you for your site and for renewing my commitment to again achieving healthy, lustrous hair.
I love your blog. I am also on a quest for long beautiful hair.I have been deep conditioning like crazy and trying to establish a simpler regimen ( am a bit of a product junkie). Do you think you would get the same results if you simplified your regimen? How does your hair get so straight when you only air dry it. My hair is usually curly. I am looking for the Vitale Mayonnaise. Can't wait to try it.
Keep up the good work.

I had search products for controlling the hair loss. But no good results came. But when I found IHT-9 the herbal hair regrowth shampoo from the website www.iht9.com , I start applying this and within few weeks, I am actually getting my hair back. It’s really a true herbal shampoo I have ever got.
@ Anonymous 1 - Thanks for the compliment. I'm glad you like it here. Pls keep in touch~
@ Anonymous 2 - Thank you!! I am in the midst of simplifying my regimen even more. I believe I will still achieve the same results, if not, better than before. My hair gets straight because I've trained it to be that way. I'm relaxed yet semi texlaxed so my hair won't curl up, but it will get a bit poofy.
I recently discovered your blog and I must say I'm glad I did. You inspired me to take control of my hair and you made me believe that a its possible for a black woman to grow their hair long. Currently my hair is relaxed but its short, thin, often dry and I suffer from split ends on a regular basis. I read something on another site that using lye relaxers instead of no-lye relaxers is better for the hair cause it doesn't leave the hair as brittle. Is this true? Do you use a lye relaxer or a no-lye relaxer? My hair stylist uses a no-lye relaxer on me.
@ Ebochica - Thanks for visiting my blog. Im glad you found HairliciousInc!!
I use a Lye relaxer on my hair. I've never used no-lye and I don't plan on using it in the future. It is said that a no-lye relaxer leaves calcium deposits on the hair causing excessive dryness because the build up doesn't allow moisture to get into the hair. I say you switch to a Lye relaxer i.e. ORS Olive Oil Lye, Silk elements, or Mizani
Good Luck
Thanks for the tip. The next time I see my stylist, I'll ask if she can use a lye relaxer on my hair instead of a no-lye relaxer. Which lye relaxer brand do you recommend or which one works the best for your hair. I know you recommended three different brands,ORS Olive Oil Lye, Silk elements, or Mizan. But which one is good for someone with a sensitive scalp?
I am glad I found your blog. I think I googled something like Black Hair Bloggers. You are an inspiration. Much success as to you as you go about sharing your tips. You are a social entrepreneur just in case if you did not know. Thanks for everything. I am one of your many followers!
thanks for this post! I went out and finally bought some cocnut oil and will be trying this! I referneced ur post in my blog today, hope u dont mind! Keep up the great blog, and site, and amazing hair journey!
dear sunshyne...wen most find out i wanna grow mah hair longer they think im crazyy cuz i supposedly have long thick hair...i jsut want it to be healthier..the only advantage i hav is that my hair isnt processed( no perm no relaxer)...i have dis one part of my hair that is super long and goes mayb 2in after BSL...its healthy nothing is wrong but when it comes time to ponytail one part is longer than the other should i cut it or way for the others to catch up?
I recently had a baby and is experiencing hair loss which is expected, however im also contending with bald spot I had prior to childbirth.I'm hoping the use of castor oil along with your recommendations will solve all my hair issues, but what is the most effective way to use castor oil for hair growth?
