Relaxed and Trimmed aka BIG CHOP

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

I relaxed my hair with Mizani Butter Blends system at the salon and it went well, I don't have much to say about the relaxer to be honest. I just don't see the hype. It relaxed my hair just like any other relaxer I've tried. I didn't notice a difference. I also got a BIG CHOP on my ends. I disliked them for a long time (since August 2008) but I was so scared to get them trimmed (from my previous hair updates). I haven't trimmed my hair since May 1st, 2008. I just thought "babying" them would do the trick...it didn't... oh well.

I wanted it done because they just didn't feel healthy, and healthy hair is NUMBER 1 on my list...not raggedy ends. I decided to cut it this length and straight across. I feel like my hair will grow better and not in a "V" shape (I personally don't like it). So I'm pretty much at APL. It may be a setback but I don't look at it that way. Right now it's all about maintaining my ends!! I'm happy since it looks much healthier.

I'm in the "Moisturize & Bun for Length Challenge" on HAIRLISTA INC. , come and join me!!

Here is a pic to show you ladies what I'm talking about:

  4. I prefer it straight across, looks fuller. I'm not a big fan of the "V", but your hair looked good b4 too. I agree,"V" or straight across doesn't matter, as long as it's healthy.

  5. Okay...I can definitely see from the pictures what you meant. It's a difference but it looks great and it's keeping your hair healthier to cut a little now than a lot later.

  7. Hey Sunshyne,

This is NOT a set back at all. I basically went through the same thing as you... back in Feb '08 when I started my blog, my hair was brushing BSL... I trimmed (aka BIG CHOPPED) my thin ends in March, except I went a bit shorted than APL.

Somehow, my hair is growing back in the U shape... but it is GROWING... and the most important thing is that since I get regular trims now, my ends contonue to look healthy.

With the way your hair grows, you will be back at BSL by TOMORROW! =)

    Here's to happy hair growing!!

  8. P.S. I stopped using Mizani BUtter Blend in June 08... I'm now with Vital relaxer. (switched relaxers when I switched stylists)

I've used it twice and both times I am pleased with the results.

  9. It will grow in so nice and healthy! I'd give it 4-5 months before you are back to the length that you started with. You made the right choice!

  13. Hey Sunshyne...Trim looks great...Dont worry about being APL ....I went from APL to Waist-length in less than a year....Although I have learned to love my V shape..Because it is the natural way my hair grows...I just trim it in that shape..

    Looks great ..Sis

  14. My hair grows in a V shape as well. But like you, i love the straight across cut you got. when my hair gets longer, i might consider getting it cut like that too.

Right now my hair is touching my shoulders, but it has grow from ear-length to there due to me learning about cowashing at your website and switching my shampoo and conditioner to Herbal Essences "Long Term Relationship" and it is working miracles for my hair.

    Thank you so much Sunshyne!
