Salon Review: Loxx Hair Design

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

This is for all of you ladies in the TDOT (Toronto, Canada). I relaxed my hair at a salon by the name of Loxx Hair Design Inc.

3 Spring Garden Ave. (Yonge & Sheppard Intersection)
North York, ON
M2N 3G1
(416) 226 - 5699

I had a pleasant experience over at Loxx. The stylists were very nice. What I loved most is that they are Mizani and Fiberguard Certified, unlike my previous hair dresser. Loxx uses quality products, Dudley, Mizani, Nexxus, KeraCare etc. They do not overprocess the relaxed hair. They base your scalp for you & relax the roots only.

Vivian, my stylist, was very knowledgeable about healthy hair practises, products etc. which is what I've always desired in a stylist. She was concerned about my ends and only trimmed off what I asked her too. She was very easy to talk to and answered all of my questions in detail.

The only downfall about going to this hair salon is that they are quite pricey & they only have meter parking. So don't be alarmed if you have to leave with your hair half flat ironed to pay the meter.

  1. I love the fact that you are giving a good salon some spotlight! I love salons that have stylists who care about the health of the hair and not just the finished look! My old stylists used to use tresseme...nuff said!

  4. Found your blog a couple of days ago and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I'm scheduled to get a touch-up this weekend but I am going to start on a moisturizing regimen. I'm trying to get the hang of pre-poo's and cowashes so, until I know what I'm doing (and what works for me) I think I'm going to mimmick your regimen (if you don't mind :). My hair is ear length and fine so, I'm going to have to find a way to wear it while going through this process...any suggestions? Also, can you explain a little more about cowashing and will cowashing weigh my hair down? Thanx sooo much!

  5. Wow I live right across the street from this salon . How much do they charge for a trim? The salon I go to is Carlene's Beauty Lounge 2321 Weston Road.

  7. It is very hard to find a salon that not only cares about your hair's "appearance" but also your hair's health. I'm hoping to find one here in Gainesville.

Thanks for the link and the compliment. Much obliged, I'm putting a link to your site up now.

  9. @ Jmilz86 - I had to shine some light on this salon. They did a great job on my hair, had to give them some credit.

    @ Jenn - You have options! :-)

@ Anonymous - The bus is a good option too.

@ Sylv - Thank you hun! I'm happy you love it here. I don't mind you copying my regimen. When I was ear length I wore it in a weave for a couple months until with was shoulder length. Co-washing is just replacing shampoo to wash your hair. Its a great way of adding moisture to the hair. Since you have fine hair, it may weigh your hair down. Just look for a conditioner with little to no silcones in it.

    hope that helps

@ Ebony - Oh thanks girl!! I was thinking of parking there but I was so hesitant..lol

@ Deja Vu- Thanks for the love :-)

@ Koffee - They take care of natural hair and dread locs as well.

  12. Nice saloon. I can say that they offer nice prices and good ambiance. This is second to my favorite which is JJ Hair CLub 211 Yonge St 1G Toronto, ON M5B 1M4 . I like Gloria from this hair club because she is simply the best. She is so warm and experienced that I was just relaxing there while she did magic on my hair. Going out from the saloon made me feel someone new, someone more confident and more beautiful. If you are interested to give it a shot and meet fantastic Gloria, call these digits: (416) 916-1868
