Got Henna?

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Hey Everyone,

I'm really getting bored with my hair, more specifically my hair color, and just out of curiosity, how many of you actually Henna your hair? Part of me would like to try this because of all the benefits....but first I want to know how many Relaxed and Natural ladies do this :)

  3. I commented, "No, and I'm relaxed," but I used to use henna about a year ago. I liked the color, but after about the 3rd time, I started having an allergic reaction to it. There were sores in my scalp...like a relaxer burn but much worse. Now, I use cellophanes and have never had that problem again.

  4. Question. I was told that henna just enhances your natural color along with many other benefits, but it doesn't actually color the hair. True or Untrue. Thanks

  5. If you are going to use henna on your hair (especially if you're relaxed) make sure it is BODY QUALITY ART henna.

  7. Hey Sun - I'm relaxed/texlaxed and I henna. The thing with dark brown hair and henna is that it will not impart a lot of noticable color on the hair. If you have grays, it will turn them a lovely copper color. But if your hair is dark brown, it will appear dark after you henna. Think of it as coloring a black piece of construction paper with a red crayon... now, in certain lights your hair will appear brown, or have some hints of red here and there - but it's not really noticable. HTH!!

  8. Yes, I am transitioning to natural and I henna my hair. If you want color (lighten), it won't do it since your hair's dark. It may add color in the right light; but, it won't be like using an actual hair color process.

    I love it, though.

  9. I would like to suggest Curly Nikki. She has an entire section dedicated to henna with blog posts, photos and a great video tutorial. She inspired me to use henna, and which products to mix. I used it while relaxed and transing, and it works just as well. Just remember the moisturizing condish afterward. HHJ!

  11. I haven't hennaed in a year, but I like it. I usually mix with mahabhingraj and alma oil which helps to make the color more brown than red.

    Best of luck

  12. I just used henna on my relaxed hair for the first time yesterday and it was awesome! I will say the color change is very minimal in most of my hair (I may be able to see it more in sunlight, but its cloudy where I live today) but it did color my grays well, which is great. But more than the color change, it really conditioned my hair, better than any other deep conditioner I've ever used. My hair felt changed after my final rinse--softer, smoother, stronger. I love it and I will do it again.

  13. I've used Henna in the past. I like my hair jet black as opposed to this weird brown color I'm naturally born with. Im not sure how it turns out with other colors.

  15. I ordered Henna from Mountain Rose Herbs about 8 months ago, but I have not used it yet, I'm kind of chicken. MRH sells all natural products I also ordered facial products and their shea butter which I am pleased with. They have a slew of Henna natural colors, I purchased their black Henna.. "The Henna we offer is 100% natural and organically grown, and is free from pesticide residues, with no synthetic additives or artificial coloring ... Has anyone tried Henna from this company? I'm curious because I would like to get rid of the grays in the front of my hair and enhance the black color of my hair without using dyes. I am relaxed. Here is the link to their Henna products.

  17. I'm relaxed. I had already do 2 henna and i can say it's GOOOOOOOOOD. Texture of my new growth was change!! I'm 4b and my curls become very definites! more soft and less kinky i love this!! I can comb my hair easily at 3 month post-relaxer. I don't believe it. but it's very dry i think i will put henna only in my roots and NG beacause it makes my hair to strong like protein treatment. And my hair doesn't like too protein or products who are similar to protein treatment. I think henna it a good stuff to smooth NG or kinky or curly hair =)
