Best Wash Day In A Long Time...

Friday, January 27, 2012

Yesterday was wash day and boy was my hair thanking me for the deep treatment it received. I shampoo'd with Creme of Nature Argan Oil Shampoo and deep conditioned with a mixture of Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner, Silk Elements Mega Cholesterol (almost finished, had to mix another conditioner with it) and a few squirts of Roux Porosity Control Conditioner.

I went under the heating cap for 30mins, then rinsed. Rinsing my hair out was a breeze. My hair detangled effortlessly while in the shower and the texture was incredibly smooth during and after air drying. I was so pleased. My hair hasn't felt this good in a while, especially since I've been so busy with the baby, family, work, school, friends etc. Time is very limited. Honestly, I think the Porosity Control contributed to the extra smoothness since it helps close the hair cuticles and lock in moisture.

(70% air dried hair)

FYI: Those experiencing rough, dry, porous hair, give Roux Porosity Control Conditioner a try in your deep conditioners (1-2tbsp), you won't regret it :)

What kind of mixtures do you use on wash days? Do you mix your deep conditioners? If so, what do you use?

  5. Thank you for posting this Sis Sunshyne! I was debating whether to get the Roux Porosity Control. You have confirmed it for me. I have been doing weekly acv rinses but the vinegar is striping my color rinse. I'm trying to keep my ...ehem.."wisdom" under cover. This product will definitely be my next purchase this week. Thank you again. Have a blessed weekend! :o)

  6. I use the same conditioner (Roux) and it is now a staple for me! I love it! Right now though I'm thinking of using it again because my hair feels a bit dry and brittle but I'm not too sure why.

  8. I love Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose conditioner for deep conditioning. Its the only thing I use. I add castor oil, lots of olive oil, sweet almond oil and avocado oil and it make my hair so soft. Its the only thing I will use on my hair. I have the Roux Porosity Control Conditioner and I have not had much success with it. I will give it a try again and add it to my deep conditioner.

  9. I've heard that mixing RPC in the conditioner gives excellent results; I use it alone but I'm going to try it this way next time. I hope my results are just as great!

  13. Hey, Sunshyne. Glad you had a great wash. Would you say that the Roux Porosity Control conditioner seals cuticles better than ACV? I have been looking into a way to incorporate a sealing conditioner or ACV rinse into my regimen without drying out my hair.

  14. Can you do both Aphogee 2 minute and Roux Porosity Control conditioners in the same day? I want to do an Aphogge 2 minute, followed by a moisturizing conditioner and then the Porosity Control to seal the cuticle. Or will that be too much for my hair?? Will that be considered a protein overload? Any advice you can offer would help a bunch! Thanks! :)

  15. I agree, Roux is great to add to dc's and also to pre-poos. I've recently been mixing dc's I add a few table spoons of Avanti Silicon Mix to my conditioners (SEMC & Joico KPak DPR) and since doing this I have little - no shedding or breakage and my hair comes out very soft, sleek light & bouncy! Not sure but I think it’s the keratin & cerimide in the Silicon Mix that’s really improved my hair literally overnight.

  16. I've only used the Roux PC on it's own and have loved the results. I looooove DC'ing my hair and trying new mixtures. I have everything on hand except the Kenra...but will definitely try this soon. THANK YOU for always sharing Sunshyne. You're alright sista! -Enrica-

  17. How do you do it? That regiment makes me wanna get a Ceasar cut! I'm a working wife mom of three, is it possible ? I haven't had a perm in three months, so I guess its time! And my salon visits are expensive (95 for cut and protein and tip to 3 ppl!) Do I begin where u suggested anonymous begins?

  18. Keanna Danielle - Yes, it will work on Transitioning Hair as well.

LaQT/ Ty - To be honest, they are about the same. They both get the job done. The only downside about ACV is the scent and the fact that you can`t put it in your deep conditioner. However, if you are not careful with the portions (water vs. ACV) then you can end up with dry hair.

Anonymous - Yes, you can do Aphogee 2 min and Roux Porosity Control on the same day. The steps you have ironed out sound great. Don`t worry, it`s not an overload of protein.

UmmSunna - Yes girl it is possible!!! Trust me I know where you are coming from. I`m a very busy person as well and I just make time. If I have to deep condition overnight to save time, I will. We have to take care of ourselves too. Don`t think that it can`t be done. Have the hubby watch the kids for 1 hour once out of the week at least and pamper your hair. If you can`t wash and deep condition often, at least start with moisturizing and sealing daily to prevent dryness and breakage. Email me so we can talk further :)

Thank you everyone for contributing your wonderful responses. Your deep conditioner mixes sound so yummy I`m going to have to try some of them on my wash day :)
