Truth: The other day I was in the beauty supply store and my sister and I were talking about moisturizers and somehow we began talking about Wave Nouveau and how she loves it more than Scurl No Drip Activator. So we walked over to where Wave Nouveau was located on the shelf. I picked it up and began looking at the ingredients, like I always do with every product, and lo and behold the ingredients were different!! I was shocked that the Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein was removed from the ingredients list. Immediately a few thoughts ran through my mind ... " do my Hairlistas know about this?", "the moisture level must be much more now", "I've got to repurchase this".

There will always be a special place in my heart for Wave Nouveau. It was one of my very first moisturizers when I began my hair journey back in 2007/2008. I actually retained a lot of length with this moisturizer. After using the new improved product, I noticed a nice sheen to my hair, smoothness and ample hydration in my hair/ends. No hardness, no crunchiness. My hair felt great. Will this replace my Scurl? Never. Will I use it occasionally? Yes!  I've tried a bit in my sons 4b hair and it worked like a charm. It actually helped detangle his hair. Much better than Scurl. To be honest, I'm kind of happy the Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein was removed. I think many more people will like this version :)

  3. Sunshyne thanks for this. It was the one reason I was cautious about it. I found the protein was not for me and then lo and behold no protein whenI picked it up here in the UK last week. So I bought the large bottle at £6.99, just moisturised with it just now. I like it I always did but could not put up with the old protien version. So since my S curl has finished I am gonna finish this large bottle and then make my comparison. I had better get APL by Christmas!! lol.

Hair Journey needs patience and god! x

  8. Sunshyne:

What was the reason you stopped using Wave Nouveau? Was it the hydrolyzed wheat protein? I was under the impression that hydrolyzed protein is the good type of protein. Whats the difference between s-curl and wave nouveau.

  10. @Anonymous - I stopped using Wave nouveau because I found Scurl much more moisturizing and it had less silicones. I was able to use it as a leave-in conditioner because it made my hair very soft. At one point I decided to eliminate all leave-in products, including leave-in conditioners and moisturizers, that contained any form of protein even if it was mild or moisturizing. After that, I noticed an improvement in my hair (less breakage more moisture).

@Connie - Yes it is! :) Your welcome.

  11. I've been using Wave Nouveau on and off for the last 2 years and only just repurchased another bottle which is the old formula. I wonder if my hair would respond better to the new formula seeing as I don't currently find it moisturises my hair enough. Thanks for the post, I'll be looking out for the new formula now!

  13. @Lesley - I think the new formula would work great since the version was not sufficient enough. Hope it works out for you.
@Anonymous - You can get WN at any Beauty Supply store. That's where I picked up mine. Hope you find it.

  14. I love the fact that they removed the protein. My Hair feels sooo soft. It works so good with my Wave By Design, Permanent Wave. Much better than the Wave By Design products! :-)
