Wash Day - Twisted Up-do!

Tuesday, July 28, 2015

I was totally inspired by an old photo of my fro-hawk, I did a couple years ago, to go ahead and pull off this look. I love it because it was super easy to do and more importantly its heat-free and my ends are protected! Woohoo :)

Here's How I Did It:
  1. Parted my hair in two sections, starting from one ear to the other. I didn't mind that my part wasn't too neat. The higher the part (above ear-to-ear), the better.
  2. I secured each section (2) with a ponytail holder.
  3. Did a two-strand twist in each section.
  4. Brought the twist from section one down to section two - pin it
  5. Brought the twist up from section two to section one - pin it
  6. Fluffed each twist, if necessary.
That's it!
Products Used:
  1. Shampooed with Creme of Nature Argan Oil Sulfate Free Shampoo
  2. Deep conditioned with Creme of Nature Straight from Eden Nourishing Conditioner under heat for 30mins.
  3. Used S-Curl No Drip Activator as my leave-in conditioner
  4. Air dried with the scarf method and the rest of my hair hanging down.
  5. Once my hair was fully air dried, I moisturized and sealed with S-Curl No Drip and Jojoba Oil.
  6. Used some ORS Smooth N Hold Pudding to smooth the front of my hair.
This style was so much fun to wear! It's basically a glamorized bun that can be worn for daytime fun or an evening date night :) Not to mention, it's Summer friendly leaving me with zero hair hanging down my back. Just one less thing to worry about!

    1. It's super easy! I'm happy that my explanation was clear. Yes, it can work on APL length hair. Make sure it's done on air dried hair :)

The only real reason I want long hair is for the updos.
I'll try to recreate this with extensions

  5. This is so beautiful! I picked up some of that ORS Smooth and Holding pudding thinking that it would be great for my edges but it just flaked up. SMH. Any secrets for using it?

    1. Oh no! It shouldn't flake up on you. I don't use it for my edges, edge control is great for that. The ORS Smooth n Hold Pudding adds shine and prevents fly-aways. Little goes a long way. Thanks for the badge - total error on my part!

  6. Lovely hair Sunshyne. I'm new to the healthy hair world and have modelled my regimen on yours but just wanted to know if you light protein treatment every week in some way, I noticed you do oil only prepoo some weeks in place of protein prepoo.
