Promises: Helps protect from heat damage. Use with flat irons, blow-dryer, or any heated appliance, provides a luxurious shine.
Directions: Spray on damp hair before drying or spray on dry hair before using any heated styling appliance.
Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Neopentyl Glycol Diethylhexanoate, Diisopropyl Sebacate, Diisopropyl Adipate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycin namate, Ethyl Ester of Hydrolyzed Silk, Fragrance(Parfum), Benzyl Salicylate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Hydroxyisohexyl 3 -Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Limonene, Eugenol, Citronellol, Hydroxycitronellal, Coumarin.
The Truth: After many recommendations, I decided to purchase this product. I used this on both wet & dry hair and it NEVER leaves your hair weighed down, unlike some other heat protectants. The product is so light, very similar to how an oil sheen goes on your hair. It's like a light mist. The smell is kind of perfum-y but it gives your hair a nice salon finished scent. The silk proteins really infuse the hair shaft and make your flat iron come out silky smooth. I got absolutely NO FRIZZIES. This heat protectant is very good.
Price: $6.49 CAD
Hairlicious Rating: (4/5) Very Good

I get this question ALL THE TIME! The answer is...NO. I do not use growth aids in my hair care regimen. I must admit, I did try it (MN and Sulfur 8) very early in my hair care regimen for 2-3 weeks but I quickly became lazy with it and my hair smelt really bad because of it...Eeeww. So I ditched it.
I think that the BEST growth aid is making sure your SCALP IS ALWAYS CLEAN. Hair does grow, whether you want to believe it or not. A clean scalp is the best way to ensure your hair growth is not stunted, blocked, or inhibited in any way. With frequent Co-washing, Deep conditioning and Shampooing (with a Sulfate free shampoo), you will notice your hair growth taking off simply because there is nothing holding it back!
I just wanted to clear the air about this question. I guess many people think that hair can only grow fast if there is some growth aid product causing it. That is false where my hair regimen is concerned :-)

I've already entered my 2nd year of my Hair Care Journey and I'm starting approx. at the length of my dear friend Traycee. She started at APL and reached Waist length in less than a year. That blew me away! Congrats again Sis. With that being said, I'm starting my own challenge and I will be revamping my regimen too.
Here are the starting photos:
It seems like my hair is touching my bra strap. However, I don't consider myself BSL simply because I'm a little concerned with my ends. I have noticed (thank God I flat ironed...) that the hairs towards my nape/back area have been neglected due to lack of moisture. I realized that I don't moisturize that area enough so its starting to thin out :( Now, I'm going to moisturize and seal in SECTIONS like Traycee and see if that helps. My sister had the same problem and it was cured once she started to adapt and incorporate Traycee's methods. I gotta go into "repair mode" and take care of this situation *sighs*.

Many people choose a blow dryer because of how it looks rather than how it can benefit the hair. I'm currently on the hunt for a new blow dryer since my Thanksgiving Dinner (Oct 12th '08) is coming up and I want my hair straight. I know there are a ton of blow dryers on the market right now, so I've done my research and I know what I'm looking for.
How to Choose The Right Blow Dryer:
- Pay attention to the amount of WATTS - The higher it is the more air flow it gives.
- Make sure its Ceramic - Ceramic hair dryers use "far infrared" technology to reduce frizz while locking in hair's natural moisture.
- Or Tourmaline - Tourmaline crystals emit negative ions that eliminates frizz for smoother, silkier hair in 60% less time. Your hair will feel conditioned.
- It should be lightwight so your wrists/arms won't hurt. Some weigh less than 2 lbs.
- It should come with a nozzle attachment. This focuses the air stream directly where you want it.
- Make sure it's Ionic as this provides the hair with more shine.
- Low EMF (electronic megnetic field) helps to create ions for the hair which keeps the hair healthy. Less EMF in the atmosphere is better for your health.
- Quite motor - So your not disturbing the whole house.
- Variable speeds and heat controls is always a good buy.
- Cool shot button - An option if you don't want to use heat to dry your hair.

One year ago today, marks the day that I decided "enough is enough" and started to take care of my hair. I've had a couple struggles yet gained a lot of knowledge throughout my journey. My hair idols, BabygurlNC, SistaSlick, Sylver2, Loveya4eva, and Traycee kept me motivated. I`m so grateful. APL is where I am right now, BSL is where I plan on being Early 2009. I have 1 more relaxer to go for the year, YAY!

Question: " What do you recommend that I do with my edges? They are awful. "
Here are a couple options:
Advice: Thinning edges are caused by slow growth, scalp infection or an excessive amount of tension/stress applied to a specific area over a long period of time. To help the hair grow back, the hair follicles need to be rejuvenated to improve blood circulation and promote more hair growth. I've noticed that products containing anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties, help combat dandruff and bacteria off of the scalp. The removal of dandruff/bacteria unclogs the hair follicles allowing the scalp to breathe resulting in faster hair growth since nothing is inhibiting the growth.
Here are a couple options:
a) Rosemary Oil - Needs to be mixed with a carrier oil (too potent otherwise). Known to increase blood flow, therefore, promoting hair growth.
b) Peppermint Oil - Needs to be mixed with a carrier oil (too potent otherwise). Gives a cooling effect/tingle to the scalp, and removes dandruff. Purifies the scalp. Known to increase blood flow, therefore, promoting hair growth.
c) Castor Oil - Cleanses toxins & impurities from the scalp, nourishes and thickens the hair. Stimulates hair growth while moisturizing dry brittle hair.
d) Coconut Oil - Promotes hair growth by revitalizing and exfoliating dead skin tissue from the scalp. Great in removing dandruff so that the scalp/hair follicles can breath and the hair can grow at a faster rate.
e) Aloe Vera Gel/Juice - Includes an enzyme that is beneficial in stimulating new hair reproduction.
f) Vitamin E - Antioxidant that enhances scalp circulation. Helps to increase and improve circulation of your scalp, promoting the growth of healthy hair
g) Miconazole Nitrate - Found in Yeast Infection Creams & Neosporin. Has antifungal properties. If applied to the scalp, it will remove dandruff/bacteria off of the scalp thus promoting hair growth (caution: can cause headaches).
h) Sulfur 8 - Provides a tingling sensation to the scalp. Helps remove dandruff off the scalp. Sulfur does three important functions in our body. It brings about hair growth, strong nails and smooth skin.
i) Mega-Tek - It stimulates and promotes RAPID hair regrowth without the use of silicone, synthetic polymers, oils or petroleum based products. Many ladies have seen great results with this product.
Hope that helps!
