Herbal Essences Honey I'm Strong Conditioner

Promises: With a touch of 100% natural honey extract. This rich and creamy conditioner provides strength against damage and helps repair damage to smoothness for silky locks you will love.

Directions: Massage in this oh-so-creamy conditioner. Rinse and feel the revival.

Ingredients: Water/Eau, Stearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Cetyl Alcohol, Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Honey/Miel, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit Extract, Fragrance/Parfum, Benzyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Blue 1, Yellow 5, Red 33.

Truth: This conditioner is very good. There has been a lot of rave reviews about the "Honey, I'm Strong" line, the conditioner in particular, and I must say that the conditioner lives up to the hype. I've used it as co-wash conditioner at least once a week for the past couple months and it leaves my hair feeling incredibly smooth, soft and moisturized. This conditioner claims to strengthen the hair; however, my hair did not feel stronger or more resilient after using the "Honey, I'm Strong" conditioner. If anything, my hair felt much more moisturized as opposed to strengthened. It has a very thick and creamy yellow consistency (similar to Hello Hydration, probably thicker). I find it very easy to apply to wet/damp hair; however, you must rinse thoroughly to ensure that the conditioner is completely removed from the hair. I really love the scent. It has a very sweet smell that reminds me of candy. The scent also lingers in the hair once the hair is dry. I find that my hair is noticeably fluffy and full of volume after using this conditioner, which is a plus. Does this conditioner compare to my Hello Hydration? Very close... but not quite. I find the detangling abilities in the Hello Hydration conditioner much stronger in comparison to the "Honey, I'm Strong" - that's the main reason why I can't part ways with it. Don't get me wrong, it does have a lot of slip! Will I repurchase "Honey, I'm Strong" conditioner? Probably, it's a great instant conditioner! But it will not replace my Hello Hydration :)

Why is Hydrolyzed Protein Important?

Hydrolyze means to break up into smaller pieces, in a nonspecific manner, basically to fragment the protein. The Hydrolyzed Keratin proteins have been broken down in order to deposit itself on to the hair shaft in the regions of porosity and damage due to it’s low molecular structure. Hydrolyzed Keratin Protein particles are known to fill in the cracks along damaged areas in the hair shaft subsequently strengthening the hair, increasing elasticity and volume. Due to its moisture binding capabilities, Hydrolyzed Keratin Protein increases the moisture content in the hair, restoring luster, body, and increasing manageability.

A permanent ‘fix’ for damaged hair/split ends! Hydrolyzed Keratin Protein is ‘attracted’ to the hair and it will still rinse off the hair eventually - in fact rather quickly.

Motions Professional CPR Protein Reconstructor

Promises: Formulated specifically for heat and chemically damaged hair, Motions CPR Protein Reconstructor rebuilds and fortifies hair from the inside out using collagen proteins. Silicones and conditioners provide added moisture to increase hair's suppleness and prevent breakage.

Directions: After shampooing with CPR Treatment Shampoo, apply ample amount of Protein Reconstructor to hair. Saturate from root to end. For maximum conditioning benefits, cover hair with a plastic cap and place client under warm dryer for 5-10minutes. Gently rinse hair with warm water, thoroughly removing treatment from the hair. Style as usual. Best used with other CPR products.

Ingredients: Water, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Polyquaternium-37, Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone Peg-8 Lanolate, Dimethicone Peg-7 Isostearate, Quaternium-80, Propylene Glycol, DMDM Hydantoin, Fragrance, Isostearoyl Hydrolyzed Collagen, Dimethicone, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Salicylate, Phytantriol, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Coumarin, Yellow 6, Yellow 5.

Truth: The only reason why I decided to try this reconstructor was for the simple desire to see what's out there in comparison to Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor. Aphogee 2 min is my reconstructor of choice; however, I felt the need to explore and see if there were other products that were comparable. To my surprise, this reconstructor was extremely disappointing. I should have known that it wasn't a quality reconstructor since the protein was the 13th ingredient...way down the ingredient list!! FYI - The first 5-7 ingredients in a product are the most potent. This reconstructor has a lot of slip and because of that it's very easy to apply to the hair (wet/dry). The first week or two my hair felt balanced. However, with increased use, I found it to be more on the moisturizing side as opposed to strengthening my hair. It's weird. It did nothing for my hair. My breakage was not minimized at ALL, instead, it seemed as though my breakage increased. Now, I feel as though my moisture/protein balance is off as I've been using this reconstructor for 1 month (testing phase). I will not be purchasing this product again. I will stick with my Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor for my weekly treatments.

Pros:

Full of slip
Easy to apply to the hair
Hair doesn't feel hard/rough/tangled after treatment

Cons:

Does not minimize breakage
More on the moisturizing side
Protein is too far down on the ingredient list!
