Time Saver Tip: Deep Conditioning Overnight

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

For those who claim to have no spare time to do their hair or looking for a way to cut their hair routine time down, try Deep conditioning overnight!

It's a no-brainer right?!

This method kills 2 birds with 1 stone. I like to call it the Sleep n Treat Method..LOL (Sleep while you get a good treatment). This method is great for busy moms like myself, those who are always on the go and for those who are looking for an intense treatment.

Here's what I do to save time:

I shower and shampoo the night before. I then apply my deep conditioner on my damp t-shirt dried hair. Put on the plastic cap and tie my satin scarf over it for security. Wake up in the morning and rinse. Apply leave-ins and air dry in a bun.

You can reverse it: Deep condition on dry hair overnight then co-wash it out in the morning.

This method is great since you don't have to constantly run in and out of the shower or sit under the dryer when you have things to do. I tend to use oils or moisture deep conditioners for the Sleep n Treat method. I would never use a protein based conditioner for this method as I would run the risk of getting hard/stiff hair.

Try it, if you haven't :)

  1. The is very good advise, Sunshyne! I love dc'ing overnight or throughout the day and then cowashing it out because it DOES cut that extra step of hopping in and out of the shower, or at least 3 times in that one day! When you are serious about your hair, you will stop making excuses about time- you make, create, or improvise time! Thanks for the tip, hear from ya soon!

  3. I do this often to save time. I do use Lustrasilk (a protein based conditioner) overnight as well and never have any problems. My hair is soft in the morning just as if i used a moisture based product. Each person is different.

  4. I love deep conditioning overnight! Like you said it saves a lot of time...I stumbled upon this when I fell asleep with conditioner in my hair...lol. I would co-wash it in the morning and then go to work...so easy!
