Sally Beauty Supply Haul: Silk Elements & ION
Friday, July 05, 2013
Last night I decided to hit up Sally Beauty Supply Store with my sis to replenish my product stash. However, I walked away with a few more goodies than expected. I re-purchased Silk Elements Mega Cholesterol and ION Clarifying/Chelating Shampoo. I'm a huge fan of Silk Elements Mega Cholesterol Treatment. It melts into my hair like butter making it uber soft. It's been a staple of mine for years. Loves it!!
I've never tried the Silk Elements MegaSilk Olive Oil Conditioner or Treatment before. I've always been curious but never felt the need to try them for some reason - until now. Fortunate for me, the SEMS Olive Oil Conditioner 1Litre was on sale for $7 so I couldn't pass that up. However, the Moisturizing Treatment (in the jar) was regular price.
This time around I did not re-purchase the ION Clarifying Shampoo (although I love it - staple). I got the ION Hard Water Shampoo instead, just to try. I haven't replaced my shower filter for a little while now (keep forgetting as I'm in the middle of a move) so it will be perfect timing to try this shampoo out without the effects of the filter. Besides, based on the ingredients, it should be able to tackle hard water mineral deposits as well as remove dirt and product build up from the hair. FYI... the ION Purifying Solutions line has changed the colour and packaging of their products from white & red to white & blue. The ingredients remain the same.
We'll see how it goes!

Hi sunshyne, I've been visiting ur blog everything to see if there is a new post. I'm glad u did a review on these products, I live in Nigeria and have a couple of products that I'm using, not available over here. Had to order online,I will try the silk elements megasilk leave in. Would also purchase the ion shampoo for hard water when I has finished my suave clarifying shampoo. Nice post :)
ReplyDeleteHi Nelly. Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. It's sad to hear these products are not easily available but I'm happy to hear that you are able to buy them online. I've never tried the leave-in treatment so I can't comment on how it makes the hair feel. Hope it works out for you :)
DeleteHi Sunshyne....I'm interested in your thoughts on the Silk Elements Megasilk Olive Oil Treatment. Will you please consider doing a review? I actually got this as a free gift from Sally's a few months ago and I really like it. I've never used the Mega Cholesterol, so I can't compare the two. I love the smell and how soft it makes my hair too.
ReplyDeleteHi hun. Honestly I'm so eager to try it since its a moisturizing treatment and I love moisturizing treatments. I will definitely do a review and see how it compares to the Cholesterol. Thanks for reading.
DeleteThank you~Robin

Hello Sunshyne, thanks for the post! Informative as usual! I know this is off topic but just wanted to get your informed opinion...I'm pregnant at the moment and finding it difficult to keep up with my routine. I've been looking for ways to make it a bit easier. I was thinking of dry deep conditioning before shampooing and then using a protein spray as part of my leave ins so i could still maintain the p/m balance without too many steps on was day. What do you think? Would really appreciate your thoughts and any other tips you might have on pregnancy hair care. Thank you
ReplyDeleteHi hun! Thank you for reading! Congratulations on your pregnancy. What a special time. I found that deep conditioning over night was convenient and a huge time saver, even after I had my son. I think you should use a protein/moisture balancing conditioner i.e. ORS Replenishing Conditioner, shampoo it out in the morning, and then follow up with a moisturizing i.e. Neutrogena Triple Moisture Silk Touch Leave-in creme, or moisture/protein based leave in i.e. Cantu Shea butter. You can certainly alternate depending on how your hair feels. However, if you are going to deep condition once a week, make sure it's a balance of both protein and moisture. HTH. Let me know how it goes :)
