I've been having some BAD HAIR ISSUES so....
Thursday, May 21, 2009Today I decided to clarify my hair since I haven't done so in over a month and a half. Isn't that bad? I know..I'm ashamed to say it especially when I use products on a day-to-day basis that contain silicone.
The Drama: As of late, my hair has been dry, brittle, unresponsive to products, straw looking. Just a hot MESS!!!!
So I pulled out my Ion Clarifier, lathered twice letting it sit on my hair for about 2mins each time. I made sure I focused on my ends because I want a clean slate. Then I followed up with my trusty Creme of Nature Detangling Shampoo, lathered twice as well. I followed up with some Creme of Nature Porosity Control Conditioner for 3 mins with a plastic cap. I rinsed that out then proceeded to Deep condition my hair under heat for 45mins on medium.
The Cure:
- 5 tsp of Silk Elements Mega Cholesterol
- 4 tsp of Hot Six Oil
- 1 Cap ful of Castor Oil (for added softness since my hair felt rough to the touch)
The Results: Fabulous buttery soft hydrated hair! My SE MC never fails me =]
My Tip: If you use silicone based products often, remember to clarify at least once a month to ensure that your hair is free of build up and your products can penetrate the hair. Oh and don't forget to clarify your ends!!

When I had cone build up I mixed 1tsb of baking soda with a Vo5Moisture Milk until liquidy, applied to my hair and it did an INCREDIBLE job at clarifying and conditioning my hair. I do it once a week now since its mild and it also staightens my hair which makes detangling a breeze!
ReplyDeletehmmmmm...Sunshyne, you got me wanting to try that hot six oil girl...LOL..
ReplyDeleteToday I went to the hair shop and i was amazed of all that she told me. I was told by her not to stretch my perms it will rip and damage your hair. Using all these different products can damage your hair. If you do not trim the dead hair when your trying to start fresh, your split ends will raval up the hair making more damage. So after all I heard from this professional hair dresser I needed long time ago. As we all know heat is not good for your hair. I am banned from using heat. Damn even when I have new growth. Oh and I got my my hair cut tremendously
ReplyDeleteI too clarify with a similar concoction as Nikki. I use 1 tbsp of baking soda and 3 tbsp of Suave Naturals Coconut Conditioner, massaging through my scalp and hair; then close the hair shaft with an ACV rinse (I don't actually rinse the ACV out). Afterward, I apply my DC and proceed with the rest of my regimen.
ReplyDeleteJust bought the hot six oil only at Sally Beauty Supply since you're ALWAYS talking about it! =) Can't wait to get it.
ReplyDeleteClarifying is one of those things we can forget to do when we're focused on conditioning and styling. Thanks for the reminder. Great post.

ReplyDelete@ Char & ChaChaFrance - Hot Six Oil is a staple for me. It can be used in so many different ways. It's worth it.
