How To: Twist-out On Relaxed Hair
Monday, December 22, 2014When I’m stretching my relaxer I like to do low manipulation styles to camouflage my new growth. Twist-outs are fun and playful. They give me just the right amount of volume and wave to spice up my hair. The best part is, they are super easy to do and great for any occasion!
Products Used:
Step 1
I like to moisturize and seal my hair first to lock in moisture. I then part my hair in 5 sections. I apply 1 pump of my favourite foam lotion to each section. Twist it up and clip. Take one section, split it in two (2).
Step 2
I grab one of those sections and begin to two-strand twist all the way down to my ends. I twist each section tightly for more curl definition.
Step 3
Starting from my ends, I roll the perm rod all the way up to my roots.
Step 4
I continue to twist my entire head until complete. Each section should have 2 two-strand twists with perm rods on the ends. I have a total of 10 sections. At this point, I go under the hooded dryer for 15-20mins to allow the foam lotion to set. I throw on my satin bonnet and go to bed.

ReplyDeleteThank you Lesley!!
DeleteYour hair came out great, Sunshyne. I love twist-outs. When I do them, I do flat twists because they give me more voluminous hair. But flat twisting is a struggle for me. I going to try your method; it looks easier/quicker. I hope they come out as nice as yours.
ReplyDeleteThanks hun! I've tried flat twists before and they just create more tangles! Doing it in sections is much easier, more definition (for me at least) and no tangles!! Let me know if it works for you! :)
DeleteBeautiful Sunshine! My first attempt was a flop. I'll give your method a try.
ReplyDeleteThank you TE! I hope this method works for you. It's super easy :)
DeleteBeautiful! I can't flat twist to save my life. I've tried many time after watching count less video. Maybe I do two strand twist. How do you keep the twist from unraveling after you twist a section?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much hun! Flat twists never worked for me either that why ive stick with two strand twists. It's easy for the twists to unravel if you don't make it tight. I make sure to twist tightly so that the hair is secure and then I hold the ends with my fingers and immediately begin rolling it on to a perm rod. Very easy :)
DeleteI'm loving the twist-out. Your method works for me. My hair is fuller, beautiful. Thanks Sunshine!
