Introduce yourself! what's your name? where are you from?
Hi! I go by Yaz and I'm from the Philadelphia area.

How would you describe your hair? What's your hair type?
My hair has a mind of its own. Very very thick. I think my natural hair type is 4b or 4c.

When did you start your relaxed hair journey? What is your hair regimen? Share a few of your "go-to" hair products.
I started in June of 2012 after graduating college. My hair was just not what it used to be ( I had to cut it from MBL to SL due to thin ends) and I decided to stop going to salons and take care of it myself. My absolute "go-to" hair product is Joico Moisture Recovery Treatment Balm. It is the best deep conditioner I have ever used. It has allowed me to go 9 months with stretching my perm and still manage it. I swear it is the only thing that softens my new growth. I usually wash my hair with RenPure Rosemary Mint Cleansing Conditioner every week or every 2 weeks. I follow up with my Joico Moisture Recovery Treatment Balm and just let it sit in my hair for a few hours. I then douse my hair with coconut oil after. I think I can attribute the majority of my length retention and thickness to Coconut oil. I swear it's a miracle oil. I only use organic extra virgin coconut oil. I then either blow dry and flat iron my hair or I roller set it. If I don't feel like doing either of those things I'll just air dry it in rods or braids. I don't protective style much but I do wear lots of ponytails just out of convenience.

What #1 hair tip you would pass on to other relaxed haired ladies who are starting their hair journey?
Be patient! Your hair is not going to improve or grow overnight. Deep conditioning and moisturizing and sealing is your best friend. Also, you need to enjoy your hair! Wear it out every once in a while and do not be a slave to protective styling!

Nowadays it's becoming more uncommon to see relaxed hair or products geared towards relaxed hair. Do you feel the pressure to go natural? Why or why not? What are your thoughts on the natural hair movement?
All the time! I don't think my natural hair is as manageable as my relaxed hair. It is just entirely too thick and dries out way too easily. I see some of my friends with curly hair and it's so much easier for them. You have to do what works for you and only you. I think the natural hair movement is great if you have the time and schedule to deal with your natural hair on a daily basis.

Why do you choose to remain relaxed while many are transitioning back to their natural hair?
I love the versatility of my relaxed hair. I can rock it straight without worrying about it reverting in the humidity and I can also rock a full a lustrous perm rod set or braid out after a few weeks with new growth. I have learned how to care for my hair and I honestly do not have the patience to start over. LOL :)

What do you absolutely love about your relaxed tresses? And why?
I love the length and thickness of it! I love how healthy and full it can be and I love how it cascades down my back!
