Saturday, November 28, 2015
I've complied my various edge tamers for a mini review/comparison because, let's face it, there's tons of edge controls, tamers, pastes, glazes etc. but which ones really deliver on their promises? Let's take a look at the pros and cons!

And the Edge Tamer Winner is......Eden Body Works Coconut Shea Control Edge Glaze! I've fallen in love with this edge tamer over the past several months. It slicks, smooths and tames my type 4 edges without build up and it lasts longer than the average edge tamer product. The only downfall is the price ($20.00 @ HoneyFig.com) for us Canadian Hairlistas. I bought mine in the US, so it was cheaper but hopefully the price will change. Side note: I'm still a lover of my ORS Olive Oil Edge Control, but the EBW Control Edge Glaze has won my heart over.
What is your favourite edge tamer? and Why?

My favorite edge tamer recently has been the curls passion fruit and I just purchased the curls blueberry bliss. I love this mostly because it does not leave a white residue when mixed with my leave ins or moisturizers, holds my hsir down perfectly soft and smooth at the end of the day, and it also does not turn white on my hair if it hits the cold and hasn't 'set'. One downside is that your hair has to be mildly damp or dry or else it won't hold as well, but will still give a 'set' look. The eden body works does give good hold on dry or wet hair and washes out well, but again, it will leave a residue depending on what's already in my hair, it builds up, and will turn white if it hits the cold or isnt rubbed in properly. All the edge controls have really made a positive impact on the relaxed (and natural ) hair community by giving us the luxury/ease of sleeker edges while extending relaxers and protective styling. Its just a matter of finding the right one to do the job for you that mixes well with your other products and all of the other factors that could affect how each product works for your hair. **Side bar** The eden body works sheacoco leave in is amazing by itself, and the pudding combined with it has stopped breakage in its tracks. I'm not currently using them but they are in my arsenal.
ReplyDeleteHi Hun!! Thank you thank you thank you for your input and for highlighting the pros and cons you've personally experienced. You definitely have to be careful when applying the edge tamers because it may not mix well with other products you apply to your hair. Very important. Yes I've done a mini review on the ORS vs CON. My arsenal has grown since then so I thought why not do another comparison/battle/review :) LOL. Thanks for reading xoxo
DeleteI forgot to thank you for such a wonderful and thorough review. I think you've compared a few edge controls once before and it really helped me decide which ones I was going to buy and try for myself. Thank you Sunshyne! ♡♡
ReplyDeleteThe Eden Bodyworks is my favorite too. I was shocked that it held my edges at 13 weeks post. It even made them look straight
ReplyDeleteYes it truly does what it promises!!
DeleteReally good review. I'm going to have to give Eden's edge control a try. I have had a couple people tell me that Hick's is really good but also pricey. Have you tried it?
ReplyDeleteNo I haven't tried Hick's edge treatment as yet. It's on my wish list though :) I've seen it anywhere from $12-14
DeleteHi Sunshyne,
ReplyDeleteLove the review, i have been meaning to try an edge tamer for a while now, but can't seem to decide between ORS Olive oil edge control or Creme of NaturePerfect edges. Your review has really helped in coming to my decision. Thanks again!
P.S. i was trying to comment on your blog using Wordpress but it doesn't seem to be going through....
Hi Yinka. Thanks for reading. It all depends on your needs i.e. Do you have fine hair, relaxed hair? Natural hair? What's your hair type? Etc. I find that kinkier hair types need a firm hold, like myself, so ORS and EBW was a hit for me. I still love my CON but when I'm freshly relaxed. Hope that helps.
