How Do You Air Dry Your Hair?
Thursday, February 06, 2014
Sometimes, I like to air dry my hair in a loose bun. I usually air dry my hair with it hanging down (loose) or in twists while doing "The Scarf Method" around the perimeter of my hairline. This combination works best for me.
I find that bunning my hair while I'm drying it really helps to lock moisture into the hair. It helps to keep my cuticles uniform and my hair feels great overall. Some say it's better to air dry your hair while it's in a "structured state" i.e. twists, braids, banding, etc. verses having it hang loosely. What do you think?
What works best for you and hair while air drying?

Banding hands down! When I'm in a rush, I'll tension blow dry my roots on cool.

Banding is a great method. Always gets my hair smooth and soft. Thanks for sharing.
DeleteMan, I won't lie - I don't air dry a whole lot anymore. I mostly use indirect heat from my hooded dryer but when I do, its usually for a braidout.
ReplyDeleteHeat is so addictive!! LOL
DeleteI love my braid-outs too, especially on air dried hair.
I LOVE air drying. My blow-drier is doing nothing but collecting dust. I aridry in flexi rods then wrap my hair at night. The results are great especially as I am transitioning! I used to air dry it without the rods, but the moisture wouldn't lock in as well as it would with the flexi rods.
ReplyDeleteI love air drying too! Air drying in flexi rods sounds great. That must give off a lot of bounce and volume!
DeleteHi Sunshyne, I air dry my hair in a single braid nowadays. If I let it air dry while its hanging loose, it loses a lot of moisture and gets frizzy ~ Joyce
ReplyDeleteBraids is a great "structured" way to air dry! I agree, having the hair hang loose may dry out the hair easily.

ReplyDeleteFor moisture benefits, it's better to have your hair air dry in a structured state i.e. braids, buns etc. to lock in moisture and prevent frizz.
DeleteI wet wrap my hair and just walk around my house till it's dry- it helps lock in moisture and makes it appear as a roller set wrap ;)
ReplyDeleteLetting your hair dry naturally is the best thing! Thanks for sharing :)
