My MAIN Hair Goal For 2016! - What's Yours?
Tuesday, January 12, 2016Setting a hair goal for the year is extremely important but also incorporating the right steps to take you to the next level is vital! My goal this year is to keep things super simple and focus on regrowing my edges (moreso the right side, its a tad bit weaker)...yup that's right! Just my edges and maintaining the overall health of my hair - of course!
Length is not my main focus because I've learned that while maintaining healthy hair, length will always come. No need to fixate on it. Besides, I have no real desire to go past MBL. I've been MBL for years and it's my sweet spot :)
As for my edges, I plan on relaxing them every other relaxer to ensure they remain strong and full. I relax 4x/year. Relaxing my edges only 2x/year will be a challenge but the health of my hair is more important for obvious reasons. I love me some slick edges.
When I do plan on relaxing, my plan is to only apply the relaxer onto my hairline + edges at the very end - no smoothing! I believe that over the years excessive smoothing during the relaxing process and bunning may have attributed to my edges (the right side) becoming thinner. Once I pair my "relaxing my edges only 2x/year" regimen with loose bunning, I should be on the right track :)
So here are the mini changes I'll be making:
- Massage my edges and hairline 2-3x/week with Jamaican Black Castor Oil
- Wear loose protective styles
- Relax my edges every other relaxer (2x/year)
Since joining the Castor Oil Challenge part 10 on Hairlista.com, I've noticed a huge improvement and it seems to be filling in well. I'm going to continue my Castor oil regimen by applying my JBCO 2-3x/week followed by a light massage. I just have to be consistent, put in the work and be patient.
What are your 2016 Hair Plans? Do you have a specific goal in mind? How do you plan on getting there?

Aww thanks my love! Yes, you nail those styles. Love them
DeleteHi Sunhyne!
ReplyDeleteLove your 2016 goals. My primary hair goal for 2016 is to grow out the different textures in my hair, leaving just the one texture. My new growth and freshly relaxed tresses are so much thicker than the hair prior to hair journey, which is making it very hard to style and detangle.

I totally understand where you are coming from. Eventually it will become one texture as it continues to grow and as you trim your hair. Don't worry.
DeleteAll the best with your 2016 goals!! My goal is mostly for growth, just to fill out my TWA :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Yvonne! Congrats on the BC. Growth is everything!! It will grow out before you know it.
DeleteSeems simple enough. My goal is to focus on health. I've put my hair in the back seat to focus on my daughter who was transitioning and now her hair is healthier and longer than mine!
ReplyDeleteYES!! With health, length will come. Simple is good :)
DeleteI also need to work on my egdes and getting to full bsl. This post is givung me the power to get that trim i need. Yes it takes me backwards but health over length *sob*
ReplyDeleteHealth over length!! I'm a firm believer in that. Let's work on our edges together :)
DeleteMyyyyyyyyyy u look like a Movie Star.....
ReplyDeleteAwww thank you!!! :)
DeleteI'm currently at collar bone length and I want to get to APL. I'm focusing on leaving my hair alone and continuing with my regimen. Not adding any products, not experimenting; just using the products that have worked for me and protective styling .
ReplyDeleteGetting to APL is my goal for the year! I am currently at Collar bone and I'm getting a tad excited and impatient! So I'm focusing on what has worked for me this far which is maintaining my regimen, and utilizing protective styling . Plus continue being patient 😄
ReplyDeleteGo back to relax hair
ReplyDeleteOh really? Welcome back. Let me know if you any assistance :)
