Promises: Ultra Black Hair Lotion Creme Moisturizer contains just the right amount of essential oil needed to penetrate and soften our dry hair type. Use it for natural, pressed or chemically processed hair, for course thick tresses, on wet hair or for daily maintainence to replace lost moisture. Great after a protein treatment when you need those extra oils to soften and smooth hard hair. This wonderful penetrating formula leave your hair feeling smooth, soft and non-greasy.

  • More oil for dry hair types
  • Non-greasy formula leaves a luxurious feel
  • Soft, silky, smooth hair
  • Fragrance free
Directions: For daily maintenance pour Lotion crème moisturizer in your palm and rub your palms together. Starting with the ends, smooth on the hair. Since the ends need more apply most of the product there, smoothing from the top of the head down to the ends what is left on your hands after the ends. Apply before or after styling and as often as needed. The amount you apply depends on your needs. Use modest amounts if your hair is slightly dry and generous amounts for excessively dry hair.

After a protein treatment apply larger amounts on the hair as described for daily maintenance immediately after the treatment and as often as needed to soften the hair. Can also be used to soften the hair after a UBH deep condition. For best results keep it off the scalp.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Olive Oil, 1-Octadecanol, Cetrimonium Bromide, dl-Panthenol, Allantoin, Lecithin, Dimethicone Copolyol, Methylparaben, Diazolidinyl Urea, Propylparaben, Retinol, Tocopherol.

The Truth: To be honest, this moisturizer didn't impress me much. I really tried to like it, but for some reason it never really penetrated or moisturized my hair. I tried it on freshly relaxed hair, but my hair started to clump together over time. I guess it's because it's so thick. Sometimes I would notice tiny broken hairs while applying it on my hair because of the thickness of the lotion. It also leaves behind a white residue when I rub it in. I tried it on air dried hair, but my hair was never really moisturized.

On the plus side, this moisturizer worked very well on wet hair, it was very smooth and soft. Overall, I discovered that oil based moisturizers don't work well on my hair. I will not be repurchasing.

  1. Thanks for the review..I have heard good things about this, but haven't tried it because I'm not that impressed with the ingredients. I'll save my money!

  2. I haven't heard of this product. I don't think I want to try it, but thanks for the review.

  3. Thanks for the tip! Won't be trying this one :)

  4. Thanks for the tip. Like you, oil based moisturizers don't work on my hair either. Since everything you've recommended so far works for my hair as well, I too will save my money.

  5. I used this while wearing micro braids and it was great for a moisturizer because my hair felt like butter when I took my braids down. I guess it was the continuous use of it. However, I do think it is to thick to apply straight to dry hair. I also tried it on my natural hair when wet and it worked out pretty well, but it still didn't feel that moisturizing to me.

  6. Thanks for the input ladies. I too was very disappointed. It is great on wet hair but that is about it. What a waste.LOL

  7. I didn't like this product. I bought it for my daughter's hair. It made her break out.

  8. I too have tried the product and did not see the benefits. It actually made my hair feel waxy. I don't think I will try this product again. Thanks for the review! DB

  9. I wouldn't recommend this product either. I bought a large bottle thinking it would be great because I heard such good things about it, now im stuck with it!!

  10. It is thick, which is why she also has the dew moisturizer, which is a lighter spray. I think her products work best as a system, and if you read her book and follow the instructions on how to use the products...

  11. Unfortunately, I tried the UBH DC and initially, I was excited about it. I got clumping (as well) and my hair was stuck to head. I was pissed. I think her products work better as a system as well. I will not use her products again. Too harsh for my strands.

  12. I too have tried the UBH DC and I had the same experience after using it.....like tonight (a dumb idea gone bad)However, I normally use a moisturizing conditioner afterwards because it is a protein based dc. I like the deep conditioner. As for the moisturizer....cream version...I haven't noticed anything of the opposite. Every other nite I use the cream moisturizer and seal with my oils. I'll pay closer attention :)
