Penetrating Oils + Heat = Instant Thickness & Strength
Wednesday, October 14, 2009Instead of adding my usual Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Honey to my Deep Conditioners, I decided to mix:
- 3tsps of Coconut Oil
- 3tsps of Olive Oil
- 3tsps of Avocado Oil
- 4-5 tsps of Abba Pure Color Protect Conditioner * I love this stuff*
I stayed under the dryer for a good 25mins on medium heat. After I rinsed and air dried, my hair was noticeably thicker, stronger and more durable while detangling. While manipulating my hair, I noticed less hairs in the comb (both breakage and shedding).
Honestly, it was a different feeling from what I`m use to. I feel as though these oils collaborated in a synergistic way to enhance and fortify the hair shaft drastically. Forget honey! I`m all for the 3PO (that`s my new name for them..3 Penetrating Oils). Just thought I`d share that experience with you all :-)
Now more than ever, I know how important it is to add oils to your deep conditioners or pre-shampoo treatments. I`m beginning to learn that water and oil is our hair`s best friend! Some conditioners give the illusion of healthy hair by just coating the hair shaft, whereas these oils have been proven to replenish the vital oils that give hair shine, bounce, strength and moisture.
Try this oil mixture and let me know how it goes :-)

Thanks SunShyne for this post. I will surely try this 3 oils combination once I am able to get my hands on Avocado Oil. Having the hardest time findind it.
ReplyDeleteOils are the best. I always add them to my DC. I was using coconut and avocado and recently starting using EVOO. It is great. My hair feels so strong after I DC.

ReplyDeleteHey Sunshyne.
ReplyDeleteIs this your DC or do you add the 3PO and Abba to you Deep Conditioner.
I'm a little confused here.
I'm thinking of adding these oils to my Silk Elements DC.
Thanks!
Hey Sunshyne, You are right on time! I was just reviewing the top 10 list and I was about to ask you to do a top 10 oil poll. Thanx this is just what I needed.
ReplyDeleteSunshyne, how would you rate the softness of your hair when you conditioned w/o the honey and just the 3PO only?
ReplyDeleteI love adding oil to my DC. When I don't my hair tends to come out, ummmmm boring I guess.
ReplyDeleteI am going to use your new 3PO method! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks SunShyne, I used 3 tablespoons I know I'm goofy. But I gonna try it anyway.LOL

ReplyDeleteI must say; I love your recipe Sunshyne! So nourishing for the hair. I tried it today except for using sweet almond oil (instead of avocado oil) and Queen Helene Cholesterol all under 30mins. My hair is silky, soft yet thick in a sweet way. Luv u Sunshyne. Thanks for the tip. GOD bless.

ReplyDeletethanks sunshyne. imay have to use an ovacado which is more available here than the oil. Hope i will get the same results. i will post the results. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGirl how do you come up with this? LOL...I have been experimenting and playing around with oils, conditioners...u came up with magic over nite! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI tried your recipe, loved the strength, but didn't notice any thickness. I also found it a little "soupy"--way too much oil. I may reduce for the time around unless I was misreading your recipe. It's 4-5 tsp of conditioner and not Tbsp right?
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I've been looking for a way to incorporate penetrating oils into my regimen...in love with coconut oil...Will definitely be trying this recipe!!!
