  1. My hair type is 4a/b. For my conditioner I use a mixture of pureed bananas (2 baby food jars), vitamin E, JBCO, coconut milk and honey and Herbal Essences reconditioning conditioner. I steam with this concoction for 30 minutes and my hair feels so soft afterword.

My favorite leave in conditioner is Oyin Handmade Juices and Berries as well as Carol's Daughter Hair Milk.

My favorite sealant is coconut oil. This always makes my hair extremely soft. It is definitely my favorite oil

  6. hey Sunshyne OT, but how do you deal with your hair when you go gym. I am a relaxed head and find my hair gets so sweaty each time and causes so much breakage no matter what i do, I usually partially wrap my hair in a silk scarf? Help THANKS!! LOVVVING YOUR SITE :-)

  7. Sunshyne, here's my routine and the products that I use. The most important thing that I have learned for my hair is that WATER IS THE BEST MOISTURIZER. Any moisturizers should be water based. That's my two cents and what works for my 4a with 3c tendencies hair. If you are considering going natural I would encourage you to do it!! While I keep my current styling routine simple I looove how versatile natural hair is and look forward to experimenting with new styles in the future. Good luck to you!!

Wash 1 or 2 times per week depending upon weather, how much I have sweat, itchiness, etc.

    - Pantene Moisture Renewal Shampoo

Co-wash Daily (or at least 3x per week) **Only comb hair with wide tooth comb while sopping wet and loaded with conditioner **

    - Pantene Moisture Renewal Conditioner

    - Aussie Moist Conditioner

    - Suave Humectant Conditioner

Apply Leave-in & Gel then brush front of hair back and style hair into slicked back bun

    - Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Leave-in Cream

    - Fantasia IC Hair Polisher Gel

  9. I'm currently transitioning. My curls love ACV rinses, baking soda, and bentonite clay for cleansing. After doing one of these three my curls look great. Aussie Moist conditioner is THE TRUTH. Aphogee 2minute always stops breakage. Lacio Lacio detangles like a dream. And my Neutrogena or Organix serum keeps my hair feeling strong. I have a few other loves but these are the ones I don't think I could live without, lol.

  10. I think my regimen is the most simplistic of all..

I wash/condition once a week only. I use Creme Of Nature moisturizing shampoo (red label), lather twice. I towel dry, and then deep condition with HE Hello Hydration conditioner. I might add some oil when I feel like it, coconut, jojoba, olive, or whatever combo I mix up.

After that I rinse and two strand twist my hair with a drop of HE Totally Twisted conditioner on each section and a bit of coconut oil to seal. I sit under the dryer for about half an hour for some high speed drying, then sleep on it. In the morning I unravel and the style lasts me until the next wash day.

SO basically, I use three products and they work like a charm.

  11. Hair Type 4a :

I Wash once every 2 weeks with Suave Almond and Shea Butter Shampoo

Follow that up with Suave Almond and Shea Butter Conditioner

Detangle and deep condition with either ORS replenishing or ORS Hair Mayo.

Leave either on for an hour.

    Rinse with cold water

apply extra virgin coconut oil to hair and scalp and ends, then HE long term relationship Leave-in conditioner,

Twist back up into mini two strand twists and leave up for another 2 weeks, wear a twist out for a couple days, and then do it all again :)

  13. Sleep with a satin scarf on satin pillows! Seriously, my hair will not dry out as long as I cover my hair every night. But the days I don't it is all downhill, no matte what I do:-/

  14. My updated regimen includes organic and natural products only. I have stopped using sulfate shampoos, because they strip the hair of its natural oils and I no longer use silicones that that generally end in -cone, -conol, or -xane. My basic regimen includes the following for maintaining longer & healthy hair
    • Low manipulation
    • Avoid heat (only for length checks & for special occasions)
    • Moisturize 2x/a day
    • Co- wash (2-3x/ week)
    • Shampoo/Conditioners (Sulfate Free)
    • Air dry
    • DC (2 x week)
    • Clarify at the end of the month
    • JBCO to scalp 3x/week

    Hair Poo's :
Shikakai Soap with Neem and Amla
    Avalon Organics Lavender Nourishing Shampoo
Avalon Organics Olive & Grape Seed Moisturizing Shampoo
    WEN Sweet Almond Mint
    WEN Fig
    Hair One

    Deep Conditioners:
Giovanni Conditioner - Smooth As Silk
    Avalon Organics Lavender Nourishing Conditioner
Avalon Organics Olive & Grape Seed Conditioner
JASON Natural & Organic High Protein Conditioner

  16. great topic! I am taking notes! I am 9 months into transitioning from relaxed to natural and have not nailed down a regimen but my hair loves coconut oil, which I apply daily. Currently I wash once per week and co wash and detangle with Suave Humectant conditioner once a week. I am looking forward to trying, unrefined shea butter, organix cocount milk shampoo and conditioner which has been recommended by many naturals...thx for the topic!

  18. Hair type 4a/b 3c in the back

    This is my spring/summer regimen.

I co wash (with hair one or l'oreal natures therapy perfect curls conditioner) everyday because I wear wash and goes
I use heavy moisturizes (S curl, Hair one) and seal with jojoba oil and a dime amount of ic fantasia olive styling gel to hold the curls.

I deep condition over night 2x a week with CON Extreme moisturizing conditioner mixed with peppermint coconut and sweet almond oil.

I only shampoo my hair when I feel it needs to be shampooed which is almost never sense I use hair one(great stuff)

I baggy almost everyday b.c I co wash everyday.

My regimen is a very moisture heavy My hair soaks up moisture like a sponge. I don't need a bit of protein in my hair.

I do love my shea butter and mango butter mixtures but they are too heavy for my hair now that the seasons have changed. I only use them when I wear twist and twist outs. I stopped doing twist so much because my hair isn't that long it doesn't touch my clothing in the shrunken un disturbed wash-n-go state so it is a protective style.

If I notice that it's sweaty I'll co-wash with either Aussie moist or Herbal Essences LTR and air dry. That's it.
