Quick Update On The Castor Oil Challenge Pt. 7
Friday, August 31, 2012So it's been about 1 month since I've joined the Castor Oil Challenge Pt. 7 at the Advance level (applying Castor oil every other day). In the beginning it was a struggle to get used to applying my JBCO (Jamaican Black Castor Oil) frequently.
I wasn't used to it. Prior to the challenge, I would apply it 2-3 times a week! Now it's much easier. I'm currently 7 weeks post relaxer and my new growth is fierce right about now. I honestly feel like I'm further along, maybe 10-12 weeks post. So far, I'm very happy with the results I'm noticing...
- Dense new growth
- Longer lasting moisture in hair
- Nice sheen
Some may find that applying Castor oil so often (every other day) is a bit much and it causes their hair to feel weighed down and limp. I noticed that during the first couple days of the challenge, however, the less product I used, the better - especially if I'm using it every other day. Slight shedding has also been a factor, however, I'm not worried as Castor oil speeds up the loosening of dead hair as it stimulates the hair follicles for healthier new growth.
That's it for now :)
That's it for now :)
2 more months to go!

Remembering to apply the oil can be challenging.
ReplyDeleteI know right. I guess thats why its called a challenge. Lol. But when I do remember, my hair is so soft and moisturized!!
ReplyDeleteI've also noticed slight shedding and dense new growth starting to take it easy with the castor oil as I'm 9 week post now
ReplyDeleteI feel just like you...I'm 5 weeks poet and I'm noticing denser new growth also which I love... Can't wait to the end of the challenge!!!!
ReplyDelete@Vanessa- Shedding is normal. Try spraying Aloe Vera juice in your scalp diluted with water to minimize the shedding.
ReplyDelete@Jazell - I'm happy to hear you're getting great results.
