Have Your Say: Do You Use Heat When You Deep Condition?

Wednesday, January 15, 2014

Heat is a great source to use while deep conditioning as it allows the hair cuticle to raise and accept the deep conditioner.

During this time the conditioner then binds to the hair. To put it simple, the heat source allows a greater amount of conditioner to bind to the hair i.e. better penetration and absorption!

I use various sources of heat when deep conditioning my hair. I'm a huge fan of steaming as it leaves my hair extremely soft, fluffy and moisturized. However, the hooded dryer and heating cap are very convenient and just as good.

What about you? What do you use?

  1. Hello Sunshine!
I have been asking myself a question, please tell me how you steam your hair: do you use "direct contact" or you first put a plastic cap before going under the steamer?

    1. It's better if you go under the steamer without a plastic cap so that the conditioner can work better.

  2. Hey Sunshyne,

So I have s similar regimen to yourself. The question that I have for you is, you know on the week when you clarify your hair do you still follow the same stage as a normal wash day (protein-shampoo-DC)? The reason I ask is because clarifying your hair strips your hair of all product build up etc it seems that by doing it this way it would mean that the protein conditioner that you use would be stripped from your hair. Is this the case?

    Thanks
    Aisha

  5. Hello Dear,
On my search for a hair steamer I happened to see your video about your hair steamer. I want to say that I like the steamer and I would love to know where you bought it and what is the name of it as well. I learned a lot from your post and I thank you for that as well as in advance for the above information. Best regards.

  7. I use natural heat, cos I'm yet to get a steamer. It makes my hair soft though not as soft as when I use a steamer at the salon. With natural heat, I deep condition for about 2-3hours, cos most times I'm busy other stuff.
