As I Am Hydration Elation Intensive Conditioner & Leave-in Conditioner Review

If you know me, you know I'm a huge fan of the As I Am "So Much Moisture" Lotion and the Long and Luxe Strengthening Shampoo, so of course I had to try more of what As I Am Naturally had to offer. It's only right!

For the past couple of wash day's, I've been testing out the Hydration Elation Intensive Conditioner and Leave-in Conditioner from the Classic Line.

Check out my experience and thoughts, below!

Classic: Hydration Elation Intensive Conditioner

Promises: Provides deep moisturization - A must for strong, shiny, soft, springy natural coils and curls.

Directions: After cleansing, distribute throughout hair. Leave on for 15-30 minutes, wearing a plastic cap. After removing cap, add a bit of water and carefully detangle conditioner remaining in hair. Rinse thoroughly.

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Betaine, Cetyl Esters, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Quaternium-91, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Methosulfate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Phytosterols, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Powder, Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Fruit Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Extract, Saccharum Ocinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Fragrance/Parfum, Tocopheryl Acetate, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Polyquaternium-37, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, PPG-1, Trideceth-6, Sodium Benzoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Abies Balsamea (Balsam Canada) Resin, Limonene.

The Truth: I've used this deep conditioner at least 3 times and the results were consistent, each and every time. I can say that when using it on freshly relaxed hair or while stretching my relaxer, my hair (and roots) were left softer and more manageable. The creamy consistency easily penetrates into my strands and the hydration levels increase effortlessly! As a result, I feel a difference in the elasticity of my hair - which is huge! For me, my results are better when using a hooded dryer for 20-25 mins. Highly recommend this moisturizing deep conditioner on it's own or after a protein treatment. Softness and moisture will definitely be restored. This is a great 'protein-free' deep conditioner, but I find the packaging way too small to be used frequently!

Classic: Leave-in Conditioner

Promises: Beautifully seals follicles, boosts shine and prepares hair for styling. Product hydrates, and softens hair. Helps prevent flaking when used prior to styling products.

Directions: Apply liberally throughout hair after shampooing or cowashing. Gently detangle hair.

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Powder, Phyllanthus Emblica Fruit Powder, Beta Vulgaris (Beet) Root Extract, Phytosterols, Serenoa Serrulata Fruit Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Betaine, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, Polyacrylamide, Fragrance/Parfum, Anise Alcohol, Coumarin, Limonene.

The Truth: When I first apply this leave-in, whether it be after using the Hydration Elation or another deep conditioner, I notice  i n s t a n t  softness in my strands. The immediate level of softness is UNREAL and super helpful while detangling. Unfortunately, as I air dry, that 'soft to the touch' feeling...quickly fades. For some reason, by the time I'm done air drying, I notice that my hair tends to feel a bit rough to the touch and a bit of clumping begins to form in my hair. This may be the case as the leave-in is more of a creamy consistency rather than liquid. Once I moisturize and seal, my hair feels normal again. So, I think I'll try applying it to wet hair as opposed to t-shirt dried hair - perhaps that will eliminate the clumping and rough feeling I've been experiencing *fingers crossed* We'll see!

Overall, great moisture-based products and definitely worth a try if you're looking for a 'protein-free' moisturizing deep conditioner and leave-in for dry, brittle hair.
