If you haven't heard, OLAPLEX dropped their newest product, the No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask, a few months back and it's been a hot topic ever since! Finally got my hands on it.
I'm a huge fan of OLAPLEX and this protein-free moisture mask quickly grabbed my attention. Given it's uniqueness to the product line, I was curious to know more i.e. the benefits, packaging, how it differs from other conditioners etc.
...Am I the only one?
Clearly, I had several questions that needed answers, so I reached out to my friends over at OLAPLEX and here's what they had to say about the No.8!
Stylists and consumers truly inspired OLAPLEX N°.8. Needing a product that gave intense moisture and shine without weighing the hair down was big on the list of the hair community’s needs. The N°.8 Intense Bond Moisture Mask was a labor of love taking four years from concept to completion.
N°.5 is meant to be used as your daily conditioner, providing the hair with the main components of a conditioner as well as the repair from the active ingredient. N°.8 takes it a step further, providing the hair with extra moisture while being lightweight and leaving the hair healthy with body and fullness, as well as including the repair from the active ingredient.
The pump in N°.8 is one of the things that make it truly unique. It is made for precision dosing and also prevents the product from weakening by not allowing water to infiltrate the formula, which often happens with other masks.
As you may know, relaxers usually tend to be the strongest chemical one can use on their hair, so the risk of damage and moisture loss is something one has to be aware of and address. N°.8 works amazingly in addressing moisture loss and also helps heal the hair as well.
No OLAPLEX N°.8 should be used by itself after shampooing (preferably with N°.4)
OLAPLEX N°.8 goes directly into the hair shaft; unlike most traditional masks that sit on the surface, OLAPLEX works internally, giving your hair moisture from the inside out. OLAPLEX N°.8 also gives your hair immense shine and body as well so having a moisture mask that doesn’t weigh the hair down that in itself is groundbreaking!
We recommend shampooing first with N°.4 then applying N°.8 to damp hair (mid-lengths to ends). Most only require 2-4 pumps. Remember that N°.8 absorbs into the hair, so you won’t see it sitting on top of the hair strand, so less is more. Finger or comb through, allow it to sit for a minimum of 10 mins then rinse. N°.8 is designed to replace your daily conditioner on days when you feel you need more moisture.
