The Truth: Okay I know what you are thinking, "Wild growth oil is so 4-5 years ago, why are you now trying this out?", and you are right! It took me forever to want to buy this product. I repeatedly heard about it through friends, reviews, challenges, and blogs but that never really gave me the urge to buy & try it.
I bought this oil back in May 2010 (product haul May 2010) and I've been using it on and off ever since. This oil is by far one of the best oils I've ever used. It does exactly what it says and I lovvveee it. I have been using it as a sealant, after my Hot Six Oil ran out, and it locks in moisture very well, my hair feels conditioned, has more shine and the texture is much softer to the touch than usual. It makes my ends feel so smooth and soft I find myself randomly touching my ends throughout the day just in awe at how nice it feels. I don't put it on the scalp, therefore I can't comment on hair growth, although you can. I just use Jamaican Black Castor Oil on my scalp exclusively. I apply WGO (Wild Growth Oil) on my ends in sections after I'm done moisturizing. It's a deep yellow color and has a thick/sticky-like consistency. The only downside is the scent of the oil, it's not the greatest. It's really hard to compare it to anything else since there's nothing like it to be honest, LOL. The more you use it the less you notice it. I also find that the scent doesn't linger. Overall I love this oil as a sealant. It does an amazing job at softening my texture (especially if it's dry and tangled) and locking in moisture.
Tips:Great in combination with Scurl No Drip Activator Moisturizer.
Price: $10.99 CAD
Hairlicious Rating: (5/5) Excellent

Hmm I might give it another try, but I didn't really like it that much. It just doesn't trump my JBCO and EVCO
ReplyDeleteI love this oil too I started using it back in Jan of this year and I use it on my scalp within a month I noticed the difference in length 'Not major' but more than my hair's normal growth rate. It makes my new growth a lot more manageable. As Sunshyne mentioned the smell eventually doesn't even bother you anymore LOL
ReplyDeleteWas thinking about using this oil, but i will give it a try since you gave it such a stellar review. I might be able to endure the smell since I actually like the way JBCO smells.
ReplyDeletei was in the bss with my bf and he was like "babe dont you want your hair to grow, get this!" lol i've been using it for about a month and i like it so far. i find it a bit heavy/sticky to seal with but i like it on my scalp. the smell sucks but i try and tolerate it. the smell is less if you use it on your scalp and not your hair.
ReplyDeleteI too love this oil, I have been useing it on and off since March Of last year on my scalp and I have seen growth. It also makes your NG very soft. This product will forever be a staple of mine.
ReplyDeleteI used it with a drop of jbco and MN and all I can say is my hair started growing like wild fire. And then I took the sew-in out and I haven't had a chance to make the mixture again. I am still trying to figure out what to do with my own hair. But however the WGO is a GREAT product!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, loooooove this oil! I applied it to my thinning edges religiously over the past few months, and my hairline has grown back in soo nicely! Best oil for growth EVER!

I have never used this oil, but I think I am going to try it. Hopefully, it will work better than the castor oil that I have been using. That stuff is not working for me and I see no results from using it.
ReplyDeletethis is the only oil that ive used at the beginning of my hair journey and it did wonders have to restock on this

Glad to hear that you Ladies love it. I adore this product. I always find myself going back to it after trying or testing out something else. It really conditions my hair.
ReplyDelete@ Margaret - Im not sure where in South Africa you can purchase this but you can try shopping online. I know Sally Beauty Supply carries it. Hope that helps.

DeleteI used this on my daughters scalp for a period of 2 months while she wore braids. The hair was so much thicker when I took them out. Tried again for another 2 months and her hair grew almost 2 inches from constant use.
ReplyDeleteI just purchased few weeks ago in search of something different as i like to experiment with different products. Well Im sold on this oil! It works great for me as I can stretch relaxers longer since NG is softer. My hair grows fast but dont see length due to breakage and shedding. I was coloring my hair so I stopped that about 2 months ago. Only downside is it makes my hair heavy but I'll deal with it to have healthier hair. Great product and I definately recommend it!!
ReplyDeleteDid anyone manage to find the oil in Johannesburg South Africa? Or a reliable place to order it from online?
ReplyDeleteIs it safe to use as a hot oil treAtment? Are the ingredients safe to heat up?
ReplyDeleteI think it should be fine to heat up in a hot oil treatment.
DeleteI used this product, and it does work. I've tried plenty of hair oils, as I'm quite fussy as to what I use on my hair. I usually texturize my hair every 3 months. It definitely promotes new hair growth, that tingly feeling you get is because your hair folicals are stimulating because of the oil, so any time my scalp starts to tickle or tingle, I smile to myself cos I no its working, plus I love the feeling. You don't need to over use it, I use it once every 3 to 5 days. Also the odour may be quite strong but that's because its pure plant extracts which is perfect. In all, I would give this oil 10/10. It delivers what it promises, no chemicals, 100% pure, and healty long hair. I am black british from the united kingdom. My hair normally grow about 1cm a month. Using this oil makes it grow 1'inch a month! My hair is down my back past by bra strap. It would be soooo much more longer if I didn't cut if every month, but I love this oil & will continue to use it continously! If you haven't tried it then please give it a go, you will not be dissapointed, just give it time. I need to state just one more thing, bare in mind this oil also softens your new growth, so because of that u might think its hardily grown as your normally use to seing thick growth, but it has grown!!! Give it time, love your hair, love the oil & the oil will love you. If you feel like you would like to talk to someone on their experience with this oil then feel free to email me, I would love people to experience what I'm experiencing with this oil yeay! :D fluff_bunny_x_@hotmail.com
