What is Polyquaternium 37?


Polyquaternium 37 is a charged (polycationic) polymer normally used in the personal care industry i.e. Hair care.


What does it do for the hair?

Since they are positively charged, they neutralize the negative charges of most shampoos, relaxers, hair proteins etc. helping the hair to lay flat. Their positive charge, ionically bond to the hair. It is particularly useful to use cationic polymers on hair exposed to high alkalinity relaxers to decrease damage to hair. They attach to the hair and provide conditioning benefits such as ease of combing, hair alignment, elasticity and shine. Polyquaternium 37 also helps to reduce flyaways & static.

    I've jyst bought the Kids Organics Shea Butter! Good to know I've bought it instead of the weave nouvea moistering lotion. Thanks for the information

    the funny thing is that almost every product you've listed on here that's ive tried DID NOT work for my hair. im glad i stuck with my wave nouveau (as recommended of course by hairlicious).

    Kids Organics is pretty good. Be careful because there is quite a bit of protein in it. I love Wave Nouveau wayyy more though. Luh you too Emeritus!!

    Hmm, well I'll have to try it out then. I've used the kids organics conditioner and my hair loves it! I'll buy the moisterizing lotion from weave nouveau as well, the shops in my area don't sell the Finishing Lotion

    Dry hair will benefit so much from hair care products with Polyquaternium-7 since it can add shine to an otherwise dull hair. Products with Polyquaternium-7 is not just for dry hair but may also be perfect for normal hair care types that can prevent hair dullness and damage.
