I Want Jamaican Black Castor Oil

Friday, January 23, 2009

This is one of the next items on my wish list. I've heard amazing things about it from the wonderful ladies on the Hairlista Inc. Social Network and my new stylist recommended it as an overnight pre-poo treatment.

Advantages of using Jamaican Black Castor Oil:

Tropic Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil is known to cleanse toxins from the scalp, nourish and thicken the hair, stimulate hair growth, moisturize dry brittle hair, repair split ends, and give hair body and bounce.
I'm thinking about applying this to my scalp twice a week to cleanse my scalp thus promoting growth. My scalp is well cleansed from shampooing twice a week. However, adding Castor Oil to my regimen will reassure me that my scalp is staying clean. This may be a great way for me to reach my goals even faster.

  3. It's that strong eh? Umm...I dunno. I saw some at my local BSS so I'm going to purchase it there. Probably I can mask it with an essential oil..lol.

  4. I'll add this to my list to. It sounds like it does the same as regular Castor oil does. But since it cleans the scalp, I'll have to buy it. It seems like a more healthier option than using shampoo.

  5. Yes its very strong, but it works very well you can use it on your hair, your skin, your scalp.

If you get it and mask it with essential oil let me know how that goes.

  10. This is a little strong, but the thing to do is use a little on your finger tips and rub it into you=r scalp. My favourite thing to do is after I wash my hair, whilst the hair is still damp, use a tiny dab on the ends of my hair and the roller set it. When I undo the roller set, the hair is smooth.

It is also good for just putting on your scalp, as I said previously. Whenever my hair is really limp, I just rub a little in my scalp and there goes the bounce and fullness :-D

  11. Yeah JBCO is the same as other castor oils in Caribbean countries. Haiti has the same thing called "l'huil masketi." I've ben using it on my hair before visiting hair blogs. When I use regular castor oil, in 3 days my scalp seems to get flaky...guess it's loosening up something :shrugs: I know people deep cleanse their face with Castor Oil using the Oil Cleansing Method (dries out stuff)

  15. Has anyone had any experience using "Olde Jamaica" castor oil? It looks to be the same color and consistency of Tropic Isle, but I just want to make sure it's the proper unrefined version of the oil before I start putting ii in my hair.

  17. If you can't find it, run a Google search ;)

They had it stocked at a beauty supply store near me, but I got home and checked to see what the 8oz bottles cost online. I found a few places: eBay.com, sams: http://www.sams247.com/jamaican-black-castor-oil.aspx, and http://www.jamaicanblackcastoroil.com/

    Good luck everyone.

  18. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the products, there is this site that has 100% Jamaican Black Castor Oil in the UK.
The site is www.blackcastoroil.co.uk they have two types but they are both black, the Tropical Isle Living and a NEW one called EYL. I have used both and they are the same.

Just a heads up for those looking for this product :)

  19. I use the JBCO by Tropical Isles and I don't notice a smell. However, what I have noticed is that my face breaks out when I use it. I think it has something to do with removing the toxins from your scalp. BUT, my hair loves loves loves it! My new growth and roots are soft, shiny and my entire head of hair is stronger. I've used the other castor oil for years and my hair is only shoulder length since 2007. Now using the JBCO, I've noticed faster, stronger, softer new growth between perms.

  24. To find Tropic Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil, just go to the Tropic Oil website (www.jamaicanblackcastoroil.com).

They sell it there for between 8-10 dollars per 8 oz bottle. You can also get it in various scents, such as rosemary and lavender.

The website says the darkest colored oil (they also hawe it in light and medium colors)has more ash content and therefore is most cleansing, detoxifying and promotes faster hair growth than the other colors. In other words, the darker the castor oil, the better.

There's also a Tropic Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil Hair food, which I found on Amazon.com along with the oils. Cost is about $7.99. This may be on the Tropic Isle site as well.

  25. I have hair about 2 inches below my shoulders and have been using the Black Jamaician Black Castor Oil on my hair and scalp for aobut two months now. My hair was doing OK prior, but now it is just gorgeous and has grown about a half-inch longer!

I like the Oil on my scalp because although thick, it doesn't clog the hair follicles. Instead, my scalp 'drinks it in' and nourishes my hair. I apply it to the scalp and ends of my hair and brush it in. The Oil has a 'nutty' scent which fades pretty quickly.

I also apply the Oil to my eyelids at night as it facilitates the growth of eyelashes and also, apply it to my skin, which also 'drinks' it in.

A day or two after application of the Oil to my hair and scalp my hair looks and feels so soft and with pressing, it gets silky and really resists moisture in the air; my unrelazed hair is handling the 90+ degree heat here in L.A. beautifully!

An Asian coworker of mine began french twisting my hair and never complained about grease on her hands or the scent or anything; because my scalp and hair had just 'drank' in the Oil. She just kept saying how lovely and soft my hair is.

I highly recommend this Oil for your hair and skin. Be sure and purchase the correct brand from Amazon.com or direct from the manufacturer (Tropic Isle is online) to avoid watered down knockoffs which may damage your hair. SweetKali

  26. I purchased this from honey fig on Yonge street and I have to spread the word that this stuff works!!! My hair is finally passed my shoulders its thicker and healthy. I apply it about 2-3times a week to my scalp and as a pre shampoo treatment I mix it with pure virgin coconut oil. For the first time in about 10yrs my hair is finally growing, to the length I knew it could achieve.
Also this castor oil works great as a laxative with no stomach cramping.

  27. I really like this product. It is a very thick oil and it isnt runny at all.
My hairline has came out due to tight braids..etc..
This product has really grown my edges back great. What I do is put
the product on my hairline and do a scalp massage everyday.
The only thing I wish it smelled better. It isnt a smell that is just
terriable but I wish it had a fresh scent.
Other than that I love the product and I will buy it again and
recomend it to my family, clients and friends.
